Objectives & Vision
The biennale was conceived to promote cross-cultural dialogue, elevate the global status of calligraphic, and position Dubai as a global centre for cultural innovation. The vision was bold: celebrate eight linguistic traditions through calligraphy, engage diverse communities across the city, and create an inclusive platform that embraced both heritage and modernity.
The Concept
Every element of the Biennale was designed as an experience. From immersive exhibitions in cultural landmarks to public installations, VR walkthroughs, and dynamic workshops, the city became an open-air museum. Each exhibition space was curated to reflect the nuances of its calligraphic language, and the programming blended tradition with cutting-edge expression. A custom-built digital platform enabled real-time workshop registration and global access to the Biennale’s events, extending participation beyond physical boundaries.
From Plan to Reality
DXB LIVE’s end-to-end delivery included concept development, venue planning, artist coordination, installation management, technical production, and post-event evaluation. Given the scale and sensitivity of the artworks, bespoke logistics solutions were developed, including a specialised “White Glove” art-handling team to ensure safe transportation, installation, and preservation across all venues. A dedicated microsite integrated a booking engine and payment gateway for the public, while VR experiences enabled remote audiences to experince selected exhibitions. Weekly stakeholder meetings ensured seamless alignment and delivery.
